Now that I am a retired Minnesotan, I have more time to pursue the bucket list I have been creating in my mind for years. I bet you could add to this! You can do it in the comment box at the end.
- You know that pedestrian bridge that goes over I394 from the frontage road south to the Menards store on the north? My only question is: Should I walk or bike? It has a long ramp up on either side, so I am thinking bike. Right now it’s March and kind of cold. I think it might be windy at the top.
- Sometimes I go to the Whole Foods store by Lake Bde Maka Ska (I hope I spelled that right). On Saturdays they have a lot of cheese samples, some even with their own crackers. But I have never been to the new one downtown. I am kind of worried about parking. But, what the hell. Once summer comes and it stops raining, I could even bike down there. They might have some different crackers.
- I am pretty excited to try one of those new donut places the millennials go to. I heard they even have bacon on some of them. Whoa!
- I love the Minnesota State Fair. I think this summer I might try visiting one of those animal barns. Cows, maybe, or chickens. I better remember my inhaler.
- I promised myself I would do some traveling after I retired. I heard there were some pretty good Indian restaurants in Chanhassen. Thank god for GPS.
- I have always wanted to see more of the Mississippi. I think I will take the Green Line to St. Paul, to the end of the line. I heard the new station by my house should be ready in 2023. Maybe I should invite somebody and take a picnic lunch. I wonder if I can do that on the train. I better check the website.
- I am thinking about inviting someone from my work to come to the family cabin this summer. Maybe just for an afternoon. Let’s see how that goes.
- You know those bigger-than-your head pizza slices they have at Costco? I think I might try one. I’ll skip breakfast. Íf that goes OK, I am really curious about the “chicken bake”. And, you don’t even have to be a member!!
- I hear Wisconsin has some pretty good beer and cheese joints. Oh, and I must remember to bring back some fire crackers for our backyard wienie roast this Fourth. I am putting out sauerkraut this year, in case anybody dares put a dollop on their wienie.
- Last but not least: Next winter, for sure, I am going to one of those all-inclusive beach places in Cancun. They have tennis and American food. Nothing too spicy and I never have to leave the compound.
I really want to get myself to a tractor pull. A little more my “down-home” style than going to one of them monster truck rallies… Ya, you bet.

The chicken bake at Costco is actually pretty good, if you aren’t overly concerned about heart health and longevity and stuff like that. Speaking of which, happy birthday!
